Mali Lošinj

Mali Lošinj, with origins dating back to the 12th century, is the biggest island town on the Adriatic. It is impressive with its numerous churches and works of art, among which particularly fascinating is the 2000 year old, ancient, bronze statue of Apoxyomen, recently found in the Lošinj sea bed. Lungomare paths follow the island coast passing along numerous bays and the centennial pine forest and connect Mali with Veli Lošinj. Pay attention to the many old churches, round towers erected in the 15th century as protection against pirate attacks from the sea, the fishermen's port Rovenska with its beautiful beach, breakwater and fishing atmosphere, the Park-forest and the famous climatic resort "Podjavori". Take care of your health and fitness, breathe the fresh air, visit the centuries-old dry stone walls, the clear sea, fishermen, look at the dolphins playing, conquer the peaks wherefrom you can see the whole Lošinj archipelago, the neighbouring islands and land in the distance. Visit the old olive-mill, enjoy fragrances of medicinal herbs.… There are no vipers on the islands of Cres and Lošinj. According to legend these islands were blessed by the Osor bishop St.Gaudens, who thereby banished vipers from the islands forever.
