Punat

Amidst the mild Mediterranean climate in a milieu of narrow streets and taverns, in the wilderness of natural beaches, in knots of vineyards and olive groves is Punat. Its rich cultural and historic heritage is felt everywhere: in the parish church with a baroque altar, in the medieval chapel of St. Juraj, in the Pre-Romanic church of St. Dunat; on the promenade overlooking Punat with Way of the Cross sculptures, while in Košljun, an islet in the middle of the bay, one can feel a unique harmony between natural beauty, cultural wealth and history. Ethnographic and sacral collections as well as a valuable old library are kept in the local Franciscan monastery. Classic music concerts on the islet of Košljun and in the parish church, painting exhibitions in the "Toš" gallery, sailing regattas, olive-picking, Carnival manifestations lasting from January to March... Sailors find space in the biggest Croatian marina, in one of the best sheltered and most beautiful natural bays in the Adriatic. Sailors, yachters, sportsmen, divers, nudists, bathers, cyclists, anglers, gourmands, Carnival, music and folklore lovers, wake boarders and paragliders – once they've visited Punat, they always come back.
