The Littoral Area

Kraljevica

The old littoral town, Kraljevica, is situated at the entrance to the Bay of Bakar, in the heart of the blue Kvarner, where roads from the interior meet the sea for the first time. The scenery, filled with the blueness of sea and sky and the green of the luxuriant vegetation, is dominated by two medieval castles with the church, heritage of the Croatian noble families Zrinski and Frankopan. In summer months the historic castles live as cultural and entertainment centres.

Other unavoidable destinations besides Kraljevica, as the central spot of the region, are also picturesque Bakarac in the Bakar Bay, Križišće and Dol in the green Vinodol area, Šmrika on the plateau above the sea and Neriz in the beautiful bay to the south. The vicinity of big centres, accommodation capacities in hotels, motels, private boarding houses and motor camps together with the many facilities for recreation, nautical tourism and diving activities, as well as rich entertainment and cultural programmes make Kraljevica an attractive tourist destination.
