Matulji

Matulji is a quiet nook on the boarder between Kvarner and the mountain hinterland. An easily accessible destination and an ideal place where you can spend your holiday in a unique combination of sea, nature and recreation.

In the vicinity lies the motor-camp Preluk, situated in the Preluk bay, offering ideal conditions for practicing all water sports, windsurfing in particular. If you are fond of mountain climbing, cycling, hunting, photo safari or you are simply a walker who wants to breathe fresh air, explore the Park forest Lisina, its peaks and unknown caves. There are many marked mountain tracks and peaks in this small area from which a marvelous view extends over Kvarner, the Kastav area and part of Istria. A special attraction of the area is the Carnival, held in January and February, with its main manifestation, "the bell-ringers' parade". The bell ringers, with a heritage dating probably back as far as pagan times, that gather in Matulji in January and February arise special interest with their specific masks, dances and bell ringing, and symbolize the upcoming spring and fertility.
