Novi Vinodolski
In the vicinity of Crikvenica lies Novi Vinodolski, a small town on the very mouth of Suha ričina. In the Middle Ages the town was a fortified centre of the Frankopan Princes, in the fertile Vinodol Valley ("Vallis vinearia"), and in 1288 the famous Vinodol Codex was drawn up there, as one of the most important documents of Croatian medieval common law. The Novi Vinodolski architectural monuments, its churches, libraries and treasuries cherish a great wealth of Glagolitic books and works of art. There are no industrial polluters in the Town and its surroundings, the woods in the immediate hinterland are suitable for hunting tourism, there are sports-recreational facilities, crystal clear sea, outdoors and indoors swimming pools with sea water and numerous cultural-entertainment events, the most outstanding being the International Summer Carnival and Ružica Vinodola.
