The Vinodol Municipality comprises the localities Drivenik, Tribalj, Grižane and Bribir, situated in Vinodol, a valley called Vallis vinearia ever since the Roman times. These, today small, localities developed in the fold of medieval fortresses, built by the Frankopan noble family. It is to the Frankopans that the cultural development of these places must be attributed, therefor the numerous cultural monuments found in the area are linked to their name. The interesting geographical position of Vinodol i.e. "one step from the sea, two from the snow" is one of its peculiarities. On one side Vinodol extends to the forest area characterized by mountain climate, while on the other, in the valley, the influence of Mediterranean climate prevails. Already a hundred years ago tourist books invited excursionists to visit Vinodol.

For those who are fond of mountain climbing there are numerous beautiful marked wood paths, offering breath-taking views of the Kvarner. Cycle paths attract cyclists to rides along littoral and mountain parts of Vinodol, while fishermen can catch capital fish on the Tribalj lake, and hunters shoot game in the forest area. Get to know Vinodol and Kvarner from the air, as Tribalj is one of the famous paragliding airfields !
