fish and frogs are hunted.
Many fish caught in the
lakes of Gorski Kotar
have reached world
records in terms of size
and weight. Numerous
specimens of trout have
been more than a meter
long. This is explained by
the good diet, environment
and lack of over-fishing.
Nevertheless, fish are often eaten
by the local people and their guests.
Due to the exceptionally healthful and
clean environment in which the fish live, they
are very delicious.

HOLDERS
Gorski Kotar has an abundance of streams,
rapids, rivers, lakes, cascades and
waterfalls. The water is clear, pure
and potable, and therefore ideal
for trout, chub, grayling and
barbel. The fish rush
upstreamanddownstream,
rivaling the speed of
the rivers and darting
amidst the waterfalls.
At the source of the
Kupa River, there are
also river crabs, known
locally as frile. Crabs
are also found in other
rivers and streams. The
lakes are inhabited by trout,
