Medical Programs

Save to my planner

A long tradition that officially started when Opatija gained the status of a royal health resort in 1889. During the ensuing decades and centuries this tradition has been reinforced with modern professional knowledge and the list of towns has been expanded to include Crikvenica, Selce, Mali Lošinj, Veli Lošinj, Rab and other centers, thus promoting Kvarner as a region that offers an ideal combination of health benefits and a pleasant stay.

Kvarner has continued this tradition to this day, confirming its status as a region providing a large number of health programs by continuously developing and enriching its health offer. Although it is in the first place a destination suitable for treatment and rehabilitation of patients suffering from respiratory and heart diseases, people who wish to prevent the occurrence of these and numerous other diseases come here as well.

The region offers specially designed comprehensive weight loss, medical, wellness and sports injury rehabilitation programs too. In short, in your pursuit of health, vitality and beauty, all the paths lead to Kvarner!

The special weight to the offer of health programs is given by two hospitals for medical rehabilitation – the one in Crikvenica and Opatija’s Thalassotherapia. Opatija’s Thalassotherapia includes a wellness center, one of the main providers of wellness services in Opatija and the entire Kvarner region. Hotel Corinthia located in Baška on the island of Krk has joined the group of hotels boasting numerous wellness amenities. The first SPA Wellness Academy in Croatia is based in Lovran. It provides education to the workforce specializing in this segment of the tourism offer. The organized anti-stress and vitality programs, massage treatments, natural aromatherapies, gathering of aromatic herbs and walks through the natural surroundings benefit both, the body and the soul of the visitors. Numerous Olympic and world champions, Croatian sports stars such as Davor Šuker, Luka Modrić, Stipe Pletikosa and Vladimir Šola, and famous skiers Janica Kostelić, Ivica Kostelić and Kalle Palander have chosen the Terme Selce Health & Wellness Center in Selce, Kvarner, as their place for rehabilitation after sports exertions. The center is known for its sports injury prevention and treatment programs, as well as numerous other health and wellness programs.

Kvarner also offers dental services in well-equipped polyclinics and dental offices with longtime experience.
