Frog Catchers' Night (Žabarska noć)

Lokve is situated in the midst of Gorski kotar and here it is all about frogs. Frogs have become Lokve’s brand. The town boasts an interesting Frog Museum and every spring visitors come to enjoy the annual Frog Catchers’ Night.
The manifestation is preceded by the gastronomic frogs' week, and the crown of events is the exciting frog-jumping competition. The competition is held in three rounds, the winner being he whose frog has made the longest jump, and the competition rules provide that, after «their day», the frogs shall return to their natural habitat safe and sound.
