MORE FLOWERS, LESS RUBBISH
Tourist boards – members, in cooperation with many participants in the project at local level – from local administration and self-management bodies to associations and clubs participate in the educational-ecological project "I love Croatia", under the motto: "More flowers – less rubbish". The most frequent are ecological cleaning projects, e.g. elimination of solid waste and illegal waste dumps, solid waste removal, elimination of waste from the sea and the sea bed, lakes, rivers and streams, tending of promenades, coast and beaches, green surfaces and replanting areas hit by fire, to rehabilitation of waste dumps, as well as numerous other ecological activities.
TARGETS OF THE PROJECT«I LOVE CROATIA»
- ecology: preservation of a healthy living environment and tourist space, encouraging the firms to adopt ecological principles as part of the business policy, participation in international nature and environmental protection drives;
- education of population and staff (Man – the key to success);
- cleanness: elimination of all illegal waste dumps and solid waste; cleaning up sea, lakes, rivers and streams; cleaning up squares, streets and beaches; placing of waste containers and toilets along main roads and beaches;
- protection of nature, water and forest facilities; afforestation of areas hit by fire; development of cycling, pedestrian and mountain paths, wine roads;
- integration and development of rural, hunting and fishing tourism; gastronomic and enological products on offer;
- creation of a welcoming climate for domestic and foreign tourists and visitors:
- high information level (info-plans, guideposts, information, tourist signalization, welcoming signs ),
- politeness and kindness,
- business efficiency (adjusted working hours, varied offer…),
- high organization level (traffic jams, adverse weather conditions…);
elevation of living quality and preservation of the ethnological, historical and cultural heritage.
