Fruits of the mountains
From spring to autumn Gorski kotar abounds in fruits of the mountains. In Begovo Razdolje, Mrkopalj, Skrad and Ravna Gora, as well as other places of Kvarner’s wooded hinterland, picking forest fruit is organized
for guests who can also taste pastries and dishes prepared according to the traditional recipes of Gorski kotar. We have prepared for you: Strawberry day, Blueberry day, Raspberry day, Medicinal herbs day, Lily of the valley day, Juniper-tree day, Birch day, Elder-bush day, Opening of mushroom season, Edible bolete day, Potato and mushroom day, Apple day and mushroom competition of gathering morel (so-called “Marohlinijada”). |

Apart from specialties with game, mushrooms and frogs..., another feature of the cuisine of Gorski Kotar is preparing (roasting) meat in one of the oldest ways, on the spit. When driving through Gorski kotar you will notice sucking pigs or lambs - depending on the season, roasting on somewhat modernized spits. You can try such roast lamb or sucking pig (of irreplaceable taste) in numerous inns along the way.
