During the last weekend in August, for the 35th time, the pleasant scent of freshly painted canvases will spread from Volosko’s small fishing harbour (mandracchio), the centre of the event, to the surrounding alleys, stone step lanes, seaside promenade and sea rocks. With their easels on their shoulders, a colony of artists will occupy this area, once a fishing village, today a tourist destination, and – proudly supported by local inhabitants and the entire community - will exhibit or better yet preserve their moments of inspiration on the spot using various painting techniques.

On Saturday, August 27, under the watchful eye of the Italian Community Association of Opatija, at the "Little Mandrać" the youngest ones will cross their painting brushes. The next day, on Sunday, August 28, all interested artists will compete for the "Mandrać 2022" and "Ex tempore 2022" awards. An international jury of experts will select the best works and award their authors who, in addition to the flattering title of winners, will also receive cash prizes.
