🔔 ZVONČAR PARADE IN MATULJI – A CELEBRATION OF TRADITION AND CULTURE! 🔥

Matulji proudly preserves its centuries-old zvončari tradition, and this year, we invite you to the grand Zvončar Parade, taking place on March 1, 2025! 🎭🎉

The zvončari, recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, mark the beginning of Pust, with the powerful sound of their bells echoing through the villages of Matulji from Epiphany (January 6) to St. Anthony’s Day (January 17). On sundays during this period, a dozen groups of bell ringers visit neighboring villages in a large circle of several kilometers, always closing it, returning to their own village. In the territory of Matulji municipality we have as many as nine bell ringers, named: Brežanski zvončari, Brgujski zvončari, Mučićevi zvončari, Munski zvončari, Rukavački zvončari, Zvonejski zvončari, Žejanski zvončari, Zvončari Frlanije, Zvončari Vlahovog Brega and Korenskog.

The Zvončar Parade in Matulji gathers over 1,500 participants, with thousands of visitors coming to witness the authentic spectacle of masked zvončari, the rhythmic ringing of bells, and the unforgettable atmosphere! 🔥
