🏛️ December at the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka

The Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka brings a diverse December programme that connects rich heritage, historical stories and creative workshops for children.

🔹 EXHIBITION – “Two Emperors – One Glass”

📍 State Archives in Rijeka
📅 Open until 31 January 2026

The exhibition presents the fascinating story of two emperors from the House of Habsburg-Lorraine and a single glass that unexpectedly inspired the founding of Rijeka’s first museum.
The story connects the years 1775 and 1875, Emperors Joseph II and Franz Joseph I, and their symbolic visits to Rijeka, which left a lasting mark on the city’s cultural history.
The glass served to Joseph II became a treasured museum artefact and is today preserved in the Museum’s collection as a cornerstone of museum work and a memory of two imperial visits.
