An island that lives its tradition: A week of maritime heritage, sports, and premium island gastronomy
The town of Cres once again opens its doors to one of the most beautiful island stories! This year's "Creski Kaić", a certified Croatian Island Product, takes place under the sign of prestigious regional titles – Primorje-Gorski Kotar County as the European Region of Gastronomy and the European Region of Sport 2026. Throughout the seven-day program, the traditional boat (kaić) becomes a symbol of Cres identity, blending history, sustainable development, sports competitions, and top-quality seafood delicacies.
⚓ PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS BY DAYS
• Monday, June 1 (Grand Opening): Launch of a restored traditional kaić boat, a big gastronomic surprise, musical performances, and the start of the bocce tournament at a unique court right by the sea on the main square.
• Throughout the week (Culture & Education): Educational workshops on marine and ecosystem protection, exhibitions, lectures, and tournaments in chess, traditional card games (briškula and trešeta), fishing, and women's rowing. Throughout the week, visitors can also enjoy panoramic rides through Cres harbor in a traditional Venetian gondola.
• Saturday, June 6 (Festival Climax): A grand traditional sailing boat regatta featuring guests from all over Croatia, alongside the legendary Brudetijada – a competition of local and visiting teams in preparing traditional fish stew (brudet).

Enjoy daily performances by excellent musicians:
Klapa Burin, Josip Kašman Brass Band, In Between duo, klapa Teha and Čikat, Iman Acoustic trio, Motta di Livenza Brass Band, Infinity Band, and Šajeta.
🐟 GASTRO PROGRAM (Every Day)
Taste tradition through daily seafood specialties prepared by local associations:
Tuna in sauce with polenta, mussel buzara with spaghetti, grilled sea bream and sea bass, cuttlefish with chickpeas, and many other authentic dishes.
