"POP ART – INFELD COLLECTION" Exhibition in Opatija

The final week of the "POP ART – INFELD COLLECTION" exhibition, organized by the Croatian Museum of Tourism in cooperation with the Austrian Infeld Collection, is taking place at the "Juraj Šporer" Arts Pavilion in Opatija. Until September 27th, visitors have the opportunity to view 42 iconic works by some of the world's greatest pop art masters, including Andy Warhol, Mel Ramos, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring, Kiki Kogelnik, Allen Jones, and Steve Kaufman.

As part of the closing week, two thematic guided tours will be hosted:

📜 GUIDED TOURS PROGRAM:

• Wednesday, September 23 at 5:00 pm – Guided Tour with Curator Matea Plišić

  • Topic: The origin and development of pop art and its impact on 20th-century visual culture.

  • Highlights: Presentation of key works by European and American artists from the collection, featuring Andy Warhol's iconic prints (portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Mao Zedong, album covers for The Rolling Stones), Lichtenstein's comic-strip aesthetic, Keith Haring's street art, and works by other movement legends.

• Friday, September 25 at 6:00 pm – Guided Tour with Prof. Dr. Art. Melinda Kostelac

  • Topic: Expert insight into pop art printmaking techniques from the perspective of a renowned academic printmaker and full professor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka.

  • Highlights: Analysis of vibrant colors, repeated motifs, and multi-original art through screen printing (serigraphy), lithography, and intaglio printing techniques that defined a new era in 20th-century graphic art.
