Komrčar Forest Park

Rab

Owing to the exceptionally mild and pleasant climate, Rab has many forests and as many as three hundred sources of fresh water!
Rab’s climate owes its mildness to Mt. Kamenjak located on the eastern part of the island, since it protects Rab from the cold north-east wind (Bora) blowing from the mainland of Croatia, allowing its green oasis to thrive.

The Park-forest Komrčar, on the south-western part of the island, just by the town of Rab itself, is an evidence of the long-standing ecological consciousness of Rab inhabitants.

On a 10-hectare surface, in addition to the wealth of Mediterranean vegetation and exotic trees and other plants, live various species of birds and butterflies among which is the Cleopatra butterfly and the beautiful autochthonous holm-oak and Aleppo pine woods.

No wonder therefore that here, just a few minutes from the central town square numerous walkers will find a place of relaxation, beauty and manifold pleasures.
