Every summer Ružica Vinodola (Vinodol Rose) is celebrated in Vinodol and Novi Vinodolski.

The tradition of electing the Vinodol Rose is more than a hundred years old, dates back to the times when the Frankopan family ruled. The story goes that when harvesting was completed the most beautiful and most diligent of the harvesters used to be elected. She was then wreathed with wine grape - a kind of symbol that in this area wine-growing has always had special importance – and went to town at the head of the procession.

This story precisely – recorded for the last time in history in 1880 - was the basis of its modern restaging and of the first-class tourist event that provides entertainment for the visitors, gets them acquainted with musical tradition, ecological products and enables them to master some of the secrets of manufacturing handicrafts, traditional objects or of preparing culinary specialties in specialized workshops. Of course, the wide range of traditional dishes and excellent wine should also be mentioned, that adds special attraction to the entire Vinodol Rose manifestation.
