Attractions

In the Mrkopalj area the main attraction is the White and Pack-Saddle Rocks Strict Nature Reserve, comprising two beautiful natural phenomena and providing habitat for a wide range of animals and plants.

There are numerous geomorphologic natural rarities in the area of Bijele stijene (1335 m), snow can be seen even in the warmest of days here. The area of Samarske stijene (1302 m) is somewhat more difficult to access, but still more attractive, just because of this. This is also the natural habitat of many protected plants - edelweiss, yellow gential, groundsel as well as animals - bears, weasels, doormice and martens.
